4th of July

the classic watermelon-all-over-your-face pose

Our friend Kris solely manned a fireworks stand for about 2 weeks prior to the 4th of July. Different friends brought him food and visited him. A few friends camped out on the 3rd. Then a big group of us came out the evening of the 4th. We brought the grill and cooked way too much steak. We watched nearby fireworks. We threw the frisbee, laughed, took turns helping sell fireworks and had a great time.

While driving the 25 minute trip home that night, I was struck with how easy it is to love these friends. There is something about all living together at the farm. The past few years that we've been living at WHRI, I've been apart of and seen other people cook for each other, babysit on late notice, help me deep clean our kitchen, give rides into town, hang out on the swing, share meals, play music together, laugh, cry, pray, settle minor disagreements that come with living in a shared space, tackle work projects, and enjoy each others company. So in short, I love you farm friends, past and present. :)
