i have to brag on elliana a little bit. i realize that this is no big deal unless you have small kids. in which case you understand being excited about eating habits, potty skills and sleeping time. but i'm going to share this with all of you, moms' or not.
we forgot our pac-n-play (which by the way, why is it called that? i dont know any babies who actually play in it!?) last weekend when we went to david's mom's house in dallas. so we made a little mat for elli and scrunched her between a wall and book shelf so that she couldn't get out. she hated it. she cried and cried before finally falling asleep. now our pac-n-play is old and dirty but still usable. to not have to remember and bring it everywhere would be nice, plus it would be great to be able to put her to bed at friends houses when she is tired, and sometime relatively soon she will be in Parent's Day Out and have to take a nap on the floor with all the other kids. so that was my reasoning for beginning to teach her to sleep on a mat or in a big bed. well i expected a long week of lots of crying and laying with her. but she is already a pro!
yesterday she went right to sleep on a little blanket on the floor in our room. this morning she took a nap on toby's bed. and now she is sleeping in our bed! no fuss, no falling off, no crying. unbelievable! we didn't even try this with toby until he was over 2 years! now the trick is to see if she can sleep at someone else's house.
we went to the zoo this morning. here are pictures of our beloved jaguar friend.
