i was realizing yesterday that toby & elli's day-to-day lives may be a little different than the rest of their little preschool age friends. (with the exception of maya and nora) for example the house we moved into doesn't have grass in the front yard yet, so when it rained mud became our front yard. i dont have any rain boots so i tied plastic HEB bags to my feet and one by one loaded up all four kids that i take to school on tuesday's. three carseats in the back and maya in her big-girl seat in the front. we sing and talk and laugh. lately we've been planning our pajama party that we are going to have in the common room sometime next week. then we gather all the lunch boxes, sleeping mats, blankets, stuffed animal friends, and jackets and as graciously as we can take everyone to the right class. plus without letting elliana stay in the class and play with the toys.
later on elliana and i ate lunch in the ed building with the rest of the farm. elli said hi to all her favorite people. and asked some to hold her. she went to look for baby zuri upstairs, but she wasn't there. then after lunch she got to ride in her daddy's lap in the back of the truck while we drove a big barrell of sawdust up to our new house.
tuesday nights we are part of a discussion group that meets at the Lodge. (jessica, ellie, tj and kris' house) after playing and being admired for their cuteness for a little while, toby and elli get to go to sleep in one of the roomates beds. then around 9 o'clock we gently put them in the car and bring them home to their beds.
right now i'm looking out our front window. i can see chickens. sometimes i can see the cows. david just walked to the dairy to milk the goats this morning. we live on a farm. :)
pretty sweet life :)
ReplyDeleteWhen I lived on the farm I often thought of the upbringing that your kids are getting with a great deal of envy. What and idyllic, lovely, beloved place. And what lovely, beloved, deliciously handsome children you have. They are adored by many. On top of that they get to frolic, breathe, play and grow where many other things frolic, breathe, play, and grow. This is a charmed life you are giving them, my dear.
ReplyDeleteAnd don't even get me started on our discussion group! To be able to interact with so many DIFFERENT kinds of people, to be loved and admired by so many different kinds of people; this is a gift.
You are raising your children to be spectacular, accepting, confident people. This is greatness.
